January 2000 K and I met at the local Community College, in a 4 hour, Monday night computer class. Teachers name? Ms. Love. We were doomed :-) His first thought? I was obnoxious. He got stuck next to me one class after being caught by a train, and he never looked back.
December 2000 we moved in together.
March 24, 2001 He took me to our 'drainage ditch' where we ended up talking for hours the night of our first date, and proposed. I, of course, said yes.
December 2001 - I graduated with my associates degree.
June 22, 2002 We got hitched. The wedding had all kinds of blunders, but that's what made it memorable. We had a blast. I was just 22 and he was 23.
May 2005 K graduated with his bachelors. (we both worked full time and paid our own way through, so it took us a while)
March 2006 - we threw away the BCP's.
May 2006 I graduated with my bachelors. We took a 3 week trip to Europe to celebrate.
January to March 2007 - After months of K saying we needed to seek help, and about a year of trying, we started talking to our OB/Gyn. Ran all kinds of tests on both of us. I was given the all clear, K not so much. Referred to an Andrologist (urologist specializing in male infertility). ObGyn prescribed me clomid anyways. Only did one round.
March to August 2007 - we saw the andrologist a few times. Tests ran, supplements started. She prescribed K clomid. Finally had a heart to heart with her that basically ended with her advising that all these things that we were doing would most likely not help, and even if it did, his numbers were so low that it wouldn't even get us up to the point of being able to do IUI/AI. We self referred to an RE. K did the clomid while we waited to get in, he said he finally understood how woman felt when on their period :-)
Late 2007 - got into RE#1. He recommended going straight to IVF with ICSI, so we went home, discussed it, called him back and said 'let's do it'.
February 23, 2008 - IVF Cycle 1 cancelled due to dangerous levels, Severe OHSS a guarantee. 5 additional days of Lupron to ensure that my eggies didn't ovulate out alive, just in case :-(
April 8, 2008 - Start BCP's for IVF Cycle 2, Antegon cycle.
April 24, 2008 - LH surge, so ovulated on my own prior to starting the Antegon. IVF Cycle 2 cancelled.
June 6, 2008 - Start BCP's for IVF Cycle 3, Lupron cycle.
July 7, 2008 - Trigger at 11:30 PM!!!!!! FINALLY!!!
July 9, 2008 - 10:00 AM ER! 14 eggies retrieved, K had to give 2 samples due to such horrible MFI. Poor guy.
July 10, 2008 - Fertilization report. 13 complex, 1 immature. Beautiful eggies according to the embryologist! Very poor quality semen, only about 5% morphology and only 800,000 swimmers in the first sample. Rest of fert report: 12 ICSI'd, 7 fertilized, 1 abnormally, 5 fertilized but the pro nuclei are not the best (too far apart, not in the middle, etc), 1 looks really good. The 5 that didn't fertilize, the eggs looked really good and the swimmers were ICSI'd in, but they didn't communicate.
July 11, 2008 - Embryologist considering transfer of 3 due to quality.
July 12, 2008 - ET!! 2 beautiful 8 celled embies!! 4 others to freeze
(hopefully) in two days!
July 14, 2008 - Received call that 2 embies made it to freeze!!
July 15, 2008 - Received call that the first call was a mistake, none of my embies made it to freeze :-(
July 25, 2008 - Beta from IVF came back BFN. We were broken.
June 15, 2009 - Moved 4 hours away.
October 2009 - Became pregnant through unconventional, donor sperm, method.
December 3, 2009 - BFP! We are having a July 2010 baby!!!
July 25, 2010 - welcomed our beautiful daughter, Bug, into this world. Born at 4:23 am, 7 lbs, 2.4 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long. 29 hours worth of labor, but with a great nurse, and a great husband, it was everything I wanted it to be!!
July 2010 - July 2011 - Did not prevent pregnancy, because we knew it wouldn't happen.
June 27, 2011 - Finally had first PPAF.
August 16, 2011 - Initial Consult with RE#1!
August 17, 2011 - Initial Consult with RE#2!
November 2011 - We moved out of state.
January 27, 2012 - Initial Consult with RE#1 (3)!
February 16, 2012 - Initial Consult with RE#2 (4)! We liked this guy! Initial blood work up, ultrasound, mock transfer for me, blood work up and SA for K.
February 27, 2012 - AF came. HSG scheduled for March 7. Weaned Bug right around this time. It was very difficult and sad, but we wanted to give her a sibling.
March 19, 2012 - Estimated Lupron begin date.
March 30, 2012 - Estimated baseline ultrasound.
April 14 - My 32 birthday, and trigger shot!
April 16, 2012 - ER, 25 eggs retrieved!
April 19 - Transfer of 2 beautiful 3 day embies, 1 8 cell and 1 9 cell. 6 more frozen.
April 21 - 4 more day 5 embies frozen, for a total of 10!
OHSS ensues.
May - 1st beta, BFP
May - 2nd beta, BFP!
May 7 - ultrasounds shows sac, fetal pole and nice strong heartbeat!
January 7, 2013 - due date!
January 8, 2013 - Our baby BOY arrived at 8:40am, 8 pounds, 9 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long. He arrived after a mere 3 1/2 hour labor!
